Bio
Audrey Miao, a Chinese artist hailing from Shanghai and currently based in London, her creative repertoire spans sculpture, sound installations, performance art, and film, with a predominant focus on conceptual artistry. A graduate of the Chelsea College of Art & Design, Audrey pursued her undergraduate studies with a specialization in fashion jewelry. Her artistic journey thrives on the interplay of isolation and vulnerability during the creation process, as she engages in a continuous struggle with materials, persistently delving into exploration.
Audrey's artistic gaze extends beyond human experiences, as she displays an equally profound fascination with the subtleties of life's nuances, encompassing both the human realm and the natural world. Her affinity for animals and nature is as strong as her connection with people. Central to her perspective is the conviction that art serves as a conduit to infuse lightness and playfulness into the often weighty aspects of existence. Rather than imposing an obligation to be understood, Audrey perceives art as a liberating medium that bypasses the need for exhaustive explanations, allowing her to channel her feelings and thoughts with greater ease.
Her creative journey unfolds through meticulous experimentation, an intimate dialogue with materials, and deep exploration of spatial dynamics. Her artworks emerge as conduits for potential impact on technological innovation and societal transformation, aspirations that hold immense significance for her. Eagerly, Audrey anticipates the journey ahead, driven by the desire to effect meaningful change through her artistic endeavors.
