Realm of Childlike Delights, 2023
Realm of Childlike Delights consists of three sculptures: a three-meter-high inflatable sculpture, the largest object in the space; a book made of tufting; and a yarn sculpture. The intention of this work is to create a space or atmosphere, setting up a scene to explore the animality of human beings—an experiment. It observes how people react when confronted with large "toys": the subconscious impulse to touch and the desire for physical contact with these objects, among other things. It questions the seriousness of the art gallery, the sanctity and solemnity of art. My intention is to bring into the human world the rules, constraints, and environment that humans impose on animals, through transformation and reenactment. This artwork welcomes visitors to interact with the exhibits, to 'play' in the exhibition hall rather than merely observing.
